Hapkido is a traditional Korean Martial Art that incorporates self-defense techniques such as kicking, punching and throwing.
The emphasis, however, is on the use of joint lock, pressure point manipulation and control tactics using dynamic spiral
motion — Hapkido’s trademark.
Instead of relying on strength and force Hapkido uses evasion, deflection and re-direction techniques by utilizing the opponent’s
force against him. This philosophy and training method allows smaller and/or lighter students to “hold their own” against
larger and heavier opponents.

Lower belts (white belt - orange belt) learn balance, proper use of center, falling / rolling, and basic release techniques. Many strikes / kicks as well
as movement / reality drills and proper etiquette prepare them for regular class.
This class allows lower belts to focus on their curriculum at their own pace. Special arrangements can be made in cases of scheduling problems.

Kids classes include games that promote balance, agility and behavior building qualities, as well as awareness and
teamwork. A major component in our kids program focuses mainly on improving attitude, building respect
for others and instilling self-esteem and self-discipline. The physical training teaches basic self-preservation
techniques along with kicking, punching, proper rolling/falling to avoid injury and dealing with bullies and negative
peer pressure.
All this and we can still manage to have lots of fun doing it.
Kids as well as adults learn faster and retain more when the atmosphere is less stressful, fun and heavily peppered
with useful mental/physical content.
